Aird Uig is a small crofting village on the extreme west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. We are a one hour drive from Stornoway and about one and a half hours from Tarbert - see below for detailed driving instructions.  Our nearest airport in in Stornoway and you can fly there from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen.  Calmac operate ferries that sail into Tarbert from Skye and Stornoway from Ullapool.  There are a number of bus routes around the island operating Monday to Saturday.  See the 'Our Area', 'Local Information' page for more details about travel.

Driving directions from Stornoway - approximately 40 miles and 1 hour:

  • Take the A859 from Stornoway towards Tarbert.
  • After about 10 miles you reach the village of Leurbost; turn right on the A858 towards Garynahine.
  • 10 miles later, at Garynahine turn left onto the B8011 towards Uig and Bernera and follow this road for about 18 miles.
  • When you reach Miaviag and the harbour you go through the deep valley.  At the end of the valley turn right, signposted Aird Uig.
  • Follow this road for 3 miles in to the village and SEAcroft is the 7th house on the left.

Driving directions from Tarbert - approximately 60 miles and 1.5 hours:

  • Take the A859 from Tarbert towards Stornoway for about 30 miles.
  • When you reach Leurbost turn left on the A858 towards Garynahine.
  • 10 miles later, at Garynahine turn left onto the B8011 towards Uig and Bernera and follow this road for about 18 miles.
  • When you reach Miaviag and the harbour you go through the deep valley.  At the end of the valley turn right, signposted Aird Uig.
  • Follow this road for 3 miles in to the village and SEAcroft is the 7th house on the left.
